RESPONSE TO SASHA’S BLOG #3

This is a great post, Sasha. That “Myth of Average” talk by Todd Rose is so interesting, and your point about teaching to the “edges” instead of a non-existent middle really makes so much sense.

I completely related to what you wrote about synchronous vs. asynchronous learning. I’m the exact same way. I really benefit from the structure of synchronous classes. I find it so hard to stay motivated and remember all the different due dates in asynchronous courses, even with a bunch of reminders like you said. It’s nice to have that real-time discussion and feel more connected to the class. It’s interesting to see all the pros and cons listed out, but I definitely understand why you prefer synchronous!
