RESPONSE TO ABIGAIL’S BLOG 3

Wow, this was a really great post. That quote you started with, “Kids do well if they can,” really stuck with me. I’ve honestly never heard it put that way before, but it’s so simple and makes perfect sense. It completely reframes how I think about a student who might be struggling, it’s not that they don’t want to do well, they just might not have the right tools yet.

I was still thinking about that when I read your points on UDL and the “show what you know” style assessments. It feels like that’s the perfect way to put that quote into action. Instead of forcing everyone into one rigid test, we’re giving them the tools and the flexibility they need to actually succeed. It just seems like a much more supportive way to teach.
